No wonder she’s Woman of the Year…!
Giving thanks for Linda Stafford Burrows, Summer Classic Chair
At St. Mark’s, we know Linda Stafford Burrows as Junior Warden, Chair of the Summer Classic, Director of the Santa Ynez Valley Classical Music Series, and a member of our choir, but the Santa Ynez Valley knows Linda as Woman of the Year, based on years of service in a variety of roles in our common life in the Santa Ynez Valley and Santa Barbara County.
In taking on the work of chairing the Summer Classic, Linda gave us confidence that this event, providing critical funding for our service to the wider community, would continue.
She led the planning and the presentation of the event with the strong, quiet, creative super-competence that marks all of Linda’s work. Even in the times of most intense work and in the face of many questions and opinions, Linda charted a calm, no-drama course enabling everyone to comment on this event as one that everyone enjoyed, whether as a worker behind the scenes or a participant. One veteran of MANY events in the Santa Ynez Valley said that this year's event was her favorite event ever in all of her years of attending events put on by many different organizations.
From creative choices to very pragmatic ones (like the excellent sound system and lighting), Linda made strong decisions that have advanced how we see and experience this summer event.
Truthfully, the accolades can go on, but suffice it to say: it’s no wonder she’s Woman of the Year!
Thank you, Linda Stafford Burrows for a great success in chairing the 2017 Summer Classic!
