The Boar's Head Festival Cast

Calling all angels, shepherds, sheep and the whole cast of characters for the Boar’s Head Festival pageant that starts at 6 pm, Friday, January 6, 2023.

Jill Bader and Olivia Flisher will be fitting costumes for adults at 5 pm and children at 5:30 pm Friday afternoon in the parlor - and there will be a chance to talk/walk through the script just before it begins.

The pageant is very simple and fun. A narrator talks through the story while various characters enter and create a tableau – no need to learn lines or sing songs (except for those playing the Magi – the Three Kings).

Late and last-minute decisions can always be accommodated – so come ahead in any case if the muse strikes on Friday afternoon.

Who’s in the cast?

Boar Bearers – 2 (adults)
The Ruler of Misrule – 1 (gift of gab a plus) (Barbara Young is The 2023 Ruler of Misrule)
Father Christmas – 1 (older teen)
The Yule Sprite –1  (older teen)
Head Angel – 1 (older teen) (helps organize the other angels)
Angels – 10 (children, any ages and sizes welcome)
Shepherds – 6 (children, any ages and sizes welcome)
Sheep – 8 (children, any ages and sizes welcome)
Magi/“Kings” – 3 (adults, typically recruited by music director, male or female)
King Wenceslas – 1 
Page – 1 
Poor Man – 1 
 (King Wenceslas, the Page and the Poor Man are a unit who act out the Good King Wenceslas carol – no lines involved, but there’s simple action among these three characters.)
Steward of the Feast – 1 (adult, usually one of the Churchwardens)
