Visiting on Sunday

Walking into a new church can be baffling; no wonder many are uneasy on their first visit! Most people at St. Mark’s have had this first-visit experience and will try to make your first visit a warm one. Many people who visit St. Mark’s have never been part of any church. Fortunately, no experience is needed – and all of your life experience is welcome!

The only way to discover the richness of a faith community is to experience worship on Sunday. Also, visiting on more than one occasion gives a truer picture.

Consider yourself invited!

St. Mark’s offers a spacious Christianity, with “freedom to believe” in the ways that are meaningful to you. Any day of the week, members of St. Mark’s have a range of viewpoints on spiritual matters, the nature of the Christian witness, how to express our faith in the world – and a host of other topics. Often we grow and change our minds through sharing differing experiences and perspectives.

In addition to being a faith community, St. Mark’s is a community center, music and arts venue, a professional preschool, and a welcome center for area visitors. We’re in the process of developing a community kitchen for the Santa Ynez Valley. We understand our life best as being part of the world around us.

St. Mark’s is a diverse group of people that includes young families with children, retirees, singles, working folks, and teenagers. Some are life-long Episcopalians, others grew up in different faith traditions, and still others grew up without any faith commitment. Together, we share a desire to grow in our experience, love and knowledge of God in relationship with one another, Jesus Christ and the Holy Spirit.

Please consider joining in on this continuing journey of life and faith. Welcome. There is space for you at St. Mark’s-in-the-Valley.
